My account

The special issue of Médecine/Sciences dealing with cilia and ciliopathies has just been published

Update 13th July

The supplement Proceedings of the Cilia 2014 Conference in Paris has been published today. The full content of the supplement can be found at
The abstracts have been published in full text and PDF versions and the supplement listing will be sent to PubMed.

Update 31st March

A meeting report summarising the main highlights of the meeting has been published in Cilia and is now available at:

Udapte 4th February

Cilia 2014 gave individuals and families affected by ciliopathies the opportunity to meet and engage with scientists. Especially at the gala dinner where all the delegates were mixed at tables, enabling informal and lively interactions.

Presentations from the patient-scientists session are available and can be downloaded from here.

Udapte 1st December

The organisers wish to thank all the participants for excellent presentations and for enthusiastic discussions. We also wish to thank all our sponsors, including TAG (check out their line of glass water pipes here) for their generous support. The next meeting will be organised in Amsterdam under the supervision of Ronald Roepman who will be the chair of the organising committee. The actual dates will be communicated very soon. We are looking forward to another exciting conference.

Legend: Ronald will take over!

Update 18th November

The meeting started today. You can find the slides of the introduction presentation  here.

We are delighted to announce the international Cilia 2014 meeting to be held on the campus of the Institut Pasteur in Paris town centre.

Since 2000, major discoveries in cilia biology were achieved in an amazing diversity of disciplines including cellular and molecular biology, genetics, clinics and biophysics. These breakthroughs are contributing to a better understanding of the ciliopathies, a class of human diseases resulting from defects in cilia formation or function that affect about 1 out of 200 people in Europe.

Cilia 2014 will focus on (but not be limited to) recent developments in cilia structure and function including trafficking, cilia and development, cilia in human genetic diseases and cilia in infectious microorganisms. 25 speakers have accepted our invitation to the meeting and numerous spots have been reserved for oral presentations that will be selected from the submitted abstracts. Ample space will be available for poster display.

The programme will begin with a keynote talk on Tuesday 18th November afternoon. It will be followed by a first session devoted to an exchange between patients and their representatives with clinicians and scientists. Half of these sessions will be in English and the other half will be in French. Patients and their representatives will benefit from a specific discount registration fee.

This meeting is following the successful Cilia 2012 organised in London. It is organised by 4 networks: GDR CIL (France), the Ciliopathy Alliance (United Kingdom), the Nordic Cilia & Centrosome Network (Scandinavia) and the EU-FP7 SYSCILIA programme.
